Nishi is an Indian-American singer, songwriter, actress & entertainer who has been singing & writing almost her whole life.
Nishi began performing when she was 12 at church & cultural functions and put aside her musical ambitions to study law and
became a lawyer. In 2003, while working as a lawyer, she began meeting with independent
producers to produce songs for her 1st CD & in 2005 launched her 1st self-titled EP. For Nishi, law alone could never fulfill her: she was born to sing & dance. Following her soul's calling, she began performing in
NYC & honed her vocal skills & performance style at open mics, small cafes &
bars. In Jan. 2006 at a Tsunami benefit at Crash Mansion, 300+ heard her sing Steal Your Heart Away & Alanis Morrissette's Uninvited.
Nishi went on to perform American rock tunes as the lead singer of a local NYC band in 2006 & then began performing as a solo
artist with talented musicians in acoustic & full-band shows
from 2006-2010. In 2011, she
formed her own band, The Nights & began work
on new dance & pop EPs
all to be released in late-2011 & early 2012.

Master of My Fate and from her 1st EP, all with her new band The Nights.
Nishi's name in her native south-Indian language of Malayalam means "the night" and Nishi chose to name her band -
those who support her musically on stage - after herself. Her band members are affectionately called her Nights. Scroll down to see videos of her NYC performances & click Movies to see clips of her film & tv appearances.

The song that most strikes the listener as "Indian" is a sexy dance number. Indian dance has always been sensual and provocative and Nishi's 'Steal Your Heart Away' flaunts both qualities. Sung from the perspective of a dancer, she speaks
openly about sexuality, about her feminine strength and of her dominance over the man. The man in the song is a prey to the singer, she wouldn't have it any other way.
Written in tribute to Nishi's Grandfather on her mother's side, who died in Sept. 2003, 'Nightingale's Song' is a song for those who have lost a loved one or whose loved one is away from home and the hope of seeing them again. Nishi was influenced strongly
in the writing and composing of the music for this song by her interests in celtic and indian music. The haunting melody is reminiscent of old celtic ballads.
One of Nishi's most favorite songs, it is a dark, brooding alternative-rock style song which touches upon the despair and turmoil one feels when a relationship has just ended and they feel like their world is ending too.
